Cacerolazo!

A cacerola is a saucepan.  The cacerolazo that happened last night was a country-wide banging of pots and pans in support of the students who were conducting simultaneous marches throughout the country.  College, and some high school, students are on strike nationwide to protest the government's education policy, and to demand free education.  Click the photo to play the video, which I took leaning out our bedroom window looking down the hill toward where the march was taking place.

  1. I have never experienced anything like that last night. It was amazing to experience such a unified and spontaneous show of support for students that left the classrooms almost 2 months ago!

  2. Can you imagine college students in our country even thinking that the government would consider free education? And then uniting to protest, and gaining support from the general public? You are truly living in a different world.

  3. Sounded like there might have been a little pot banging next to the videographer!

  4. @Seth..I think that was one of our neighbors! Kind of tight quarters here in the city. But the kids eventually did look for an aluminum can and threw in their support for the students too. :-)
