Cerro Abajo - Urban mountain biking in Valparaíso

Unfortunately we missed this annual mountain bike race this past summer.  The course featured in this video is not far from our house -- it gives you a good feel for the landscape, complete with stray dogs. Makes us glad we left the bikes back in Minnesota.  Full-screen mode recommended!

  1. I've seen this before, it's daunting! I don't know how they follow the "trail" -- I'd get lost for sure even with the tape. EB

  2. Awesome stuff! Love the dog bit. Hair-raising jumps. Thanks for that and for the entry about your day there. Dan Lugo just got a job at Franklin and Marshall as a VP/Admissions Dean. Sent him a note to say hello. Cheers!

  3. That's the craziest race course I've ever seen. Just makes me wonder how many people actually survive the race.

  4. I broke a sweat just watching that. The stairs, the dog, the people lining the course near the big jumps were crazy. I also liked that they either just used the cars that were on the course to guide the route or they got cars to use for the route. Either way, genius!

  5. Wow! Liam and I watched and couldn't believe that there weren't medical personnel on hand (at least not that we noticed ;-)
