Great article about schooling abroad

For all of you who have taken your kids abroad and those of you who are considering it, here's a link to a great New York Times article Dan's friend Celia pointed out. This family's experience in Russian schools is fascinating and hard core. We could relate to the desire to attend a local school and some of the challenges involved with that decision. All four of us enjoyed reading the article.

  1. Laura,

I don't have your e-mail address so I thought I would communicate with you this way. I was wondering if Gracie is into reading "tween" literature. A friend of mine, Ed Stiefvater, is the father-in-law of Maggie Stiefvater, a noted writer of such books. He has had Maggie autograph a couple of books for young girls our Amy knows. I think Maggie's books may be a bit "advanced" for Gracie, but I thought I would ask.

This is a trip these are our super good friends. They come to Vermont every summer (cliff has had to stay in Russia this summer he came several times though) Julie has worked the last three years for me at Farm and Wilderness and their three kdis are good friends with our kids. We will be staying with them in NYC next month and they will likely come here for Tovas Bat Mitzvah in Feb. Emmet is one of Zev's best friends they spend every weekend together all summer. They come to camp from Russia every summer and I have had many many talks with them about school and immersion and stuff. The kids are crazy crazy academic especially the girls. Great folks. So funny that you posted this. We actually saw the video many times this summer and helped critique it for changes. Cool
